Given that his character's death is a big part of what sets the plot in motion (and thus he isn't in the film for very long), he got a lot of screen time (relatively speaking) in the trailer. And yeah, the scruffy cowboy look is yummy.
You know, I recall an interview (actually more than one, I think) where Matt talked about being a character actor. I know that made some fans laugh because he doesn't "look the part," but I think that may really be how he sees himself and his career. He's plenty busy, doing really different roles, and working with some terrific people, and those are all good things.
Yeah, there were several interviews where he talked about the parts he chose to play - I love it that he gets to choose and do only what he wants to do ♥ And he looks so damn fine playing them :P
Oh, love the caps!!! The movie looks like fun, lots of action and explosions, doesn't matter if the plot's good or not!! *is shallow sometimes* Might have to wait for the DVD though, but we'll see nearer the time it's released,
I hope this leads to longer roles in movies, preferably ones where he doesn't die! :)
Thanks for the pics!! watching the trailer it 's very hard to see Matt . poor guy alone and unarmed against the bad guys soooo brave!! and again I have to watch him die that's cruel ...because I CAN'T RE WATCH that scene over and over ....it's like the ep on AHS or the Finale in White Collar that I have to stop watching after the scene where Neal and Keller are arrested...Why they have to do this to me? Don't they know that every moment Matt is on screen is pure pleasure for me ...us...all the world!!
He's too pretty to die!! I mean, he's getting reallllly good at it, but sheesh!! But at least this one looks like a movie I want to see, even if he's not in it terribly long. *huggles him just b/c*
Well...actually eventually several years later I stumbled across White Collar and after watching a few episodes I was like 'I've seen that guy before...but where...' Looked him up on IMDB and was all 'ah yes, the last time I saw him he was being murdered gruesomely, it all comes back to me now'. Heehee.
Did you know that there is even an action figure from that chainsaw scene? I do collect action figures and I would love to have one of Matt but not one where his face actually is missing... urgh.
Heehee. I have seen pictures of that 'action' figure...it's terrifying. I love chezzy horror flicks, but I can't imagine having something like that sitting on my shelf.
It's a really great show and got me totally hooked. Even that young, you can see how good he already was. It must have been bad for a young actor, having his first main role and then it gets cancelled so quickly. I hope he did not think it was because of him! He surely was devastated? So glad he got another chance with White Collar.
Did you also read that document of the writer/producer, who told us how things would have continued into season 2 if there had been one?
Yeah, that docu was a great thing, I wish every cancelled show got something like that... For once, Matty would have been the last boy standing at the end of s3, awww :D
*sigh* That was to be expected. A movie I probably won't go to the cinema for then (did they really have that kind of automatic weapons in the old West already? There seems to go a lot of shooting on)
Without your screencaps, I would have missed him entirely. Thank you!
He does it so good though. Just the way he stands there, breathing hard... and it IS great exposure. Hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things. That's two Hollywood movies coming out (Nice Guys isn't out yet, is it?). He'll be making his way. I am confident.
I wonder though if the Monty movie will end with another death... I think it's one for the list!
I must admit I am looking very much forward to the suffering part ;) Even though it probably means suffering Matt as well, as he may have to spend some time in make-up?
No, not poor Matty again! Why must they always kill the poor baby? He was killed off on Chuck (twice!), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Normal Heart, In Time, and I thought no he died on American Horror Story. He 'died' in White Collar as well, probably because that was all he knew. Since he was the villain in The Nice Guys, he probably died in that one too, as well as others I'm sure. From what I read above, it sounds like he died on Station 76 and Winters Tale. I'm surprised that he didn't have some sort of terrible stripper accident on Magic Mike XXL! Why not just let him get really hurt and get helped out and loved? I'd pay a lot for a movie like that! ;-p Okay, rant over.
Twice as well! Once as a guest actor last season and this season as one of the main actors.
He also died in Springfield Story / Guiding Light, and I think he is dead in War Birds - Diary of an unknown Aviator. I've never seen it but it sounds like it from the description.
In In Time he killed himself though. He managed to survive Traveler which is something! Maybe only because the show was cancelled after only 8 episodes sadly.
And there is one more death you don't have on your list but I won't mention it because I don't want to spoiler people.
So what's that? Almost halt of his career? IMDB says that he's been in 28 movies/TV shows and live counted at least 12, and that's not counting double-deaths. That's just wrong! I can't even read any character death FF stories and probably would have cried along with Peter and Mozzie if I hadn't known that Neal was still alive! I've actually made a story to makes everything all better for them at the end if anyone wants to read it and be happy that Neal did get a version of happily-ever-after: You're My (Other) Best Friend. It's a nice Mozzie/Neal friendship story that I made for the runthecon challenge.
I just read in another forum that he also died in Tru Calling. I haven't watched the episodes yet. I really sense a theme here.
Aw, that was a cute little story, thanks! I always adored the Neal/Mozzie friendship.
How did you know he was still alive when watching? Had you been spoilered?
The only thing I knew was that the producers said to watch till the very last second. So I knew some kind of twist must be coming, and they were worried people would switch off before that and missing it.
Plus I was pretty sure that with such a lighthearted show White Collar was, they really would not pull a stunt like that. It wouldn't have fit to the tone of the show?
And I started to get suspicious when he was covered in all that blood and fell to the ground so theatrical. It did look a bit staged and over the top and the blood was way too red somehow, and the way it spread so quickly on the white shirt, it all somehow said fake to me.
But the scene with Peter and Mozzie in the morgue? That got to me big time. That felt very real and raw. I knew then that Mozzie was not acting.
I started reading White Collar FF sometime during the forth season. I only watched it on Netflix, so I behind by about a season or so. Some stories I read didn't come with spoiler alerts, so I learned what happened before I saw it. It was a little saddening, but I got over it. As long as he didn't really die since Neal is my favorite person Matt played. *hot stuff!* That was the first time I saw him too!
And thanks for the compliments! I love to hear when people enjoy my stuff!
Oh boy, not again! XD Ok, here's a list of all the on-screen deaths I've come up so far (compared to some other actors, it's actually quite balanced):
- The Magnificent Seven - Tru Calling - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Normal Heart - Winter's Tale - White Collar (if only temporary) - Chuck - American Horror Story: Freak Show (guest appearance) - American Horror Story: Hotel - Guiding Light - In Time
And here's a list of all the characters that were still alive by the time of the end credits:
- Flightplan - Amy Coyne - Glee - Traveler - The New Normal - Magic Mike - Magic Mike XXL - Space Station 76 - North Shore
I've put both lists under cuts to avoid spoilering everyone ;) And I hope that instead of biting a bullet (again), that the script writers were nice and his character gets send to prison in "The Nice Guys". Crossing my fingers for "The Last Tycoon" (which will be out probably in June, according to the latest rumors), "Monty" (when they finally will time to finish it) and "Walking Out" (though I'm sure that this will be a walk on a razor's edge, so to speak, if the first synopsis is something to count on)
As for the trailer, I had some trouble to recognize Denzel Washington in the first place. And while I haven't seen him in any movie before, I'm curious to see Chris Pratt (he definitely looks comfy in the Old West setting X) )
Anyway, thank you so much for providing us with new material! *tacklehugs* Can't wait to see any new Wild West manips coming your way...
ETA: please tell me if the LJ cuts work or not, I can't tell from my side...
I don't think it's possible to put LJ cuts in comments :( But don't worry about it, I think all Matty enthusiasts checking this LJ have already seen most of these puppies, hee :D
Though I admit I have somehow missed North Shore, heeeeee... I remember I did try to spot the boy in Relic Hunter (supposedly a driver) but after combing every inch of that one ep I honestly couldn't spot him, so if he was there - we didn't even see his face, lol :D
But I found him in North Shore \o/ Beach Matty ♥
And ok, that is an awesome list and when I look at it this way, yeah, it is wonderfully balanced, hee :D But did he die in Winter's Tale? I honestly don't remember and I'm too lazy to dig it out and check but isn't the last scene with him when he puts the baby in the water? I guess we can assume he died of tuberculosis sooner or later but I think he is alive when we last see him on screen :D
I still LOL about the idea of a deadly stripper accident, LOLOL, that would be sooo Neal :D
Yeah, I was not so sure about Winter's Tale, but some of the other commentators mentioned him dying, so I put it on the list. I checked your caps this afternoon, and if I'm going by them, he's alive in his last scene. Which would mean that, by now, the two lists are definitely in a balance ;)
And \O/ for North Shore! I got it from dieastra, and he's such an adorable summer beach cookie in it (not to mention those lovely locks)! I'm still hoping that we get at least a better quality on YT...

Super short and a death again, yeah. But looking hot in what will be a widely seen big screen flick... great exposure.
Someone give him a leading man shot!

Love the scruff and the cowboy look... no doubt the WC boys are gonna ride again in a new Old West manip, heeee :D
